A community recycling Hub has been established at the back of Yack Station. The Yack Recycle Hub provides a convenient location for our community members to drop off a range of items that normally end up in landfill. The hub will be maintained by Plasticwise volunteers.

As the Hub operates through volunteer effort, it’s important to adhere to all signage and please be careful to make sure you’re using them correctly. Misuse could make the initiative unsustainable.

What can you recycle?

At present, the hub accepts:

Teeth cleaning products

Writing instruments

Razor products

Dish and air-care products

Make-up products

Sports & active shoes

Plastic bread tags

All of these items are delivered to different locations for recycling, where raw materials can be extracted for reuse in a range of ways.

Learn more about the initiatives and what can/can’t be recycled by clicking on the items above.

Help us expand the Hub?

At present, we are limited to recycling only a select number of items that can be dropped off in various places for free. With more funding, we can expand the items we can recycle via paid Terracycle boxes. If this is something you’d like to put some financial backing behind, your donation would be a huge gift to the community – and planet!

The Hub was created by volunteer group Plasticwise Yackandandah. All design and communications for the Hub was produced pro bono by Springfolk Creative, and printed with a grant from Halve Waste’s Community Sponsorship Program. The garishly bright and seriously awesome 1970’s filing cabinets were donated by Terry O’Keefe, and Kevin Poyner from Yack Station has generously provided the location for the Hub at Yack Station.
